Cody Rhodes has revealed on Good Morning Britain that he is confident that he will have a one-on-one match against WWE legend The Rock in the future.
The pair entered a rivalry going into WrestleMania 40 with The Rock pinning Cody Rhodes on night one, in a tag team match which also involved Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins.
Rhodes though walked out of night two as the new WWE champion after ending Reigns’ 1,316 day stint with the belt.
The Rock in a promo the night after Rhodes, became champion, said: ‘The Rock has gotta go away for a little while now. The Rock doesn’t want to leave either. When the Rock comes back, whether you’re champion or not champion – The Rock is going to come back for you.’
In an interview with GMB on Friday, Rhodes said he believes they will face each other down the road, revealing what it would take to lure The Rock back into action.

When asked if a match with the Hollywood actor will take place, Rhodes said: ‘I want to say yes. I think what it will come down to, can I be a good champion or a great champion.
‘Roman Reigns was a great champion and will that be enough to entice The Rock because that’s what’s happening here.
‘Rock will tell you he made wrestling cool again. Rock maybe made wrestling cool in the first place but this run it’s a whole new generation, a whole new locker room.
‘Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch, myself, Rhea Ripley, all these people. The more we keep this the better we do, the more chances, it lures The Rock back into the fray.’
The WWE is currently on a tour of the United Kingdom in which Rhodes has been in action.
Following a victory over Shinsuke Nakamura in Birmingham on Wednesday, Rhodes repeated previous calls from John Cena for Wrestlemania to take place in the United Kingdom in the future.
He said: ‘ “Tonight [in Birmingham], sold out; Cardiff, sold out; Belfast, sold out; London, sold out.
“If anybody deserves anything, I’m going to echo John Cena saying the United Kingdom deserves a WrestleMania.’
