Sung Kang and VeilSide Team Up to Design a One-Off Widebody Nissan Z

Actor Sung Kang and Japan-based aftermarket parts maker VeilSide have teamed up to create a custom Nissan Z for the 2023 Tokyo Auto Salon.

The Z’s design is meant to harken back to the VeilSide-customized FD Mazda RX-7 Kang drove as Han in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. It sports the same color scheme and a handful of similar details, including widened fenders, flashy wheels, and a mean front end.

Pro photographer Larry Chen and Road & Track contributor Dino Dalle Carbonare got a chance to spend some time up close with the very orange Z, soaking in the details that make the widebody kit unique and all of the painstaking work put into making the car worthy of appearing in the next Fast & Furious movie.

Perhaps the coolest part of the build is the interior, which gets a smattering of VeilSide patterned trim along the dash and the steering wheel airbag. There are also seats from Bride that wear a custom one-off VeilSide fabric and a very pretty-looking air suspension setup in the trunk.

Well-made body kits like this don’t come cheap. According to VeilSide’s overseas marketing chief, the fenders, hood, side skirts, bumper, spoiler, and all the rest of the panels cost a total of $14,000.
