Rabat – France football star Kylian Mbappe stole the spotlight as he joined a state dinner hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron in honor of Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim in Paris on Tuesday evening.
Mbappe plays for the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), a club owned by a Qatari entity. PSG’s president Nasser Al Khelaifi, a key figure in the Emir’s inner circle, was also in attendance.
Following the visit, Mbappe shared with his fans on Instagram pictures of the event. The football star appeared in the picture wearing a black suit and posing at the entrance of the Residential Palace.
In the second picture, he was attending the high-profile dinner. He captioned the pictures simply; “Elysee Palace.”
The news of Mbappe’s visit to the Elysee Palace comes as the star recently said that he will leave the club when his contract expires this summer. Observers speculate that the invitation to the dinner might be an attempt to convince him to stay with PSG.
This is not the first time the player said that he will not renew his contract with PSG. He was set to leave the French club in the summer of 2021 before PSG retained him with a more attractive offer.
In 2022, the player again was close to signing with Madrid before renewing his contract with PSG.
Reports indicate that Madrid and Mbappe are in preliminary negotiations, and the club is optimistic about the prospects of reaching an agreement soon.
