The highly anticipated Secret Invasion brings back the greatly missed Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury in an involved capacity. The S.H.I.E.L.D. is at work once again as the clandestine organization takes up focal authority in a brewing war. The Skrulls who were last actively engaged in the plot of 2019’s Captain Marvel are finally back in the center of the narrative. But that is not all there is to be excited about as one major player tops all the excitement with her role in the upcoming series.
Emilia Clarke’s Secret Invasion Role Linked to X-Men Theory
There are two newcomers in Marvel’s Secret Invasion series — Olivia Colman and Emilia Clarke. Both the British A-list actors are among Hollywood’s best and brightest and as they step into the Marvel universe, the excitement surrounding the series only builds in terms of hyped-up fan theories. Recently, a promotional gif showcasing the entry of Emilia Clarke’s yet-to-be-announced character on Secret Invasion decodes her involvement in the show and it’s better than expected.
Apparently, the gif of the Solo actress comes attached with the filename — “It’s The Beginning Abigail Brand” — which could not be made any clearer as to the character that Clarke is supposed to play. Abigail Brand is a human-alien hybrid who inherited the X-Gene from her human mother, possesses pyrokinetic abilities, and has the power to pronounce alien speech patterns due to her differently-shaped tongue.
With known links to the X-Men, both by blood and in professional capacities, the introduction of Abigail Brand in Secret Invasion really does take Marvel one step closer to establishing the Mutants within the MCU in full force.
Secret Invasion Sets Up Abigail Brand’s Links to the X-Men
Abigail Brand was born on the planet Axus to unknown parents, holds Krakoan citizenship, is an interplanetary adventurer and fighter, and was appointed as the Commander of S.W.O.R.D. (Sentient World Observation and Response Division), a subdivision of S.H.I.E.L.D. that defends Earth from extraterrestrial threats. Her unique identity enables her to proficiently operate as an agent representing the best interests of all parties involved and her no-nonsense attitude makes her one of the most fearless and qualified people on the job. Being a Nich Fury loyalist is simply a bonus.
At this point, Marvel’s big screen splash that is set to introduce the X-Men into the mainstream MCU is 2024’s Deadpool 3 which will also kick off Phase Six of the franchise. However, it does not restrict Marvel from dropping easter eggs all over the place to gradually transition into the anticipated arrival of the unkillable duo. These teases include the finale of Ms. Marvel, the She-Hulk episode showing off a news snippet about a clawed man involved in a bar brawl, and Doctor Strange 2‘s Illuminati arc. The latest, it seems, is Emilia Clarke’s arrival as the S.W.O.R.D. Commander, Abigail Brand in Marvel x Disney show, Secret Invasion.
Secret Invasion premieres on Disney in Spring 2023. The official release date is yet to be announced.
