Kylian Mbappe scored in his first game since his move to Real Madrid was announced and the France star made sure to dedicate his goal to his late uncle.
Mbappe’s uncle Alex passed away recently, leaving the 25-year-old heartbroken.
In a post on Instagram earlier this week, Mbappe wrote: ‘rest in peace Uncle Alex. It’s hard to find the words to say how much you left us too soon and will be missed.
‘Life will never be the same without you. Your family will be taken care of, you can be sure of that. May God open the doors of heaven for you.’
Mbappe’s transfer to Madrid was also confirmed this week and all eyes were on him as Les Blues warmed up for Euro 2024.
The former PSG man scored France’s third in the 3-0 win over Luexmbourg on Wednesday night and proceeded to reveal a T-shirt with Alex’s face on it with the words ‘Rest in Peace Uncle’.
