Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is projected to enjoy his best domestic opening ever as a leading man thanks to Black Adam.
The DC superhero movie is set to make between $60 to $62 million this weekend, according to a new report in Deadline.
Black Adam managed to net $26.8 million just on Friday, its first day of release, marking the best opening day for any movie with Dwayne, 50, as the solo lead.

Its audience so far has apparently been 13% Asian, 25% white, 26% Hispanic and 29% black – as well as 65% men and 35% women.
Although The Rock’s 2001 movie The Mummy Returns earned $68 million its opening weekend, that film had Brendan Fraser as its protagonist.
Black Adam is projected to triumph over even the $60.03 million first weekend achieved by Dwayne’s smash hit 2019 movie Hobbes And Shaw.

Incidentally Hobbes And Shaw, a spin-off of the Fast And Furious franchise, did not have Dwayne as a solo lead but featured him alongside Jason Statham.
Black Adam has become another in a string of recent projects where the audience and the critics sharply disagree on its quality.
The movie currently has a paltry 41% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes but is able to simultaneously boast an 89% audience score.

Black Adam is a spin-off of the 2019 DC Extended Universe movie Shazam!, which featured Dwayne’s character as the villain.
Dwayne stars amid a cast that includes Pierce Brosnan, Straight Outta Compton actor Aldis Hodge and To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before breakout Noah Centineo.
The new movie is helmed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who previously directed Dwayne in last year’s film Jungle Cruise based on the Disneyland ride.
