The singer also features in Greta Gerwig’s new movie about the famous doll. Gerwig, in turn, makes a cameo in Lipa’s music video.
Dua Lipa has shared her new song, “Dance the Night,” which is her contribution to the soundtrack for Greta Gerwig’s new Barbie movie. The single was produced by Mark Ronson, Andrew Wyatt, and the Picard Brothers, and it arrives with a very pink music video featuring a cameo from Gerwig at the very end. Watch Lipa lead a troupe of dancing disco balls, get behind the wheel of a Barbie-pink convertible, and dance on a hot pink stage in the clip below.
Barbie hits theaters on Friday, July 21, and the soundtrack is out the same day. Additional contributors to the soundtrack include Tame Impala, Ice Spice, and Haim. “Dance the Night” was co-written by Lipa, Wyatt, Caroline Ailin, and Mark Ronson.
Dua Lipa will appear in Barbie, alongside Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Issa Rae, Simu Liu, Michael Cera, Kate McKinnon, John Cena, and many others. The singer’s sophomore studio album, Future Nostalgia, was released in 2020. She more recently collaborated with Calvin Harris and Young Thug on “Potion.”
