In November 2023, Cassie filed a lawsuit against her ex-boyfriend Sean “Diddy” Combs, accusing the 54-year-old rapper of raping and sexually abusing her for 10 years. In her statement, Cassie said she decided to stand up to her powerful boyfriend so that other women who are being abused can have the courage to fight back. 

“After years of silence and living in the dark, I am finally ready to tell my story. I am speaking out for myself and for other women who are facing violence and sexual abuse in their relationships.”

Cassie’s move began to “ignite” the “shocking” sex case in Hollywood. In the lawsuit, the singer said Diddy caused her to become addicted, struggling with drugs and alcoholism. Cassie accused her ex-boyfriend of often having uncontrollable rages and beating her in front of staff. 

After the violent attacks, Sean Combs would often hide his girlfriend in hotels for days to let the bruises disappear in order to hide the fact that he had beaten Cassie.

CNN releases clip of Diddy assaulting ex-girlfriend at hotel

In May 2024, CNN released a clip of the rapper assaulting his ex-girlfriend at a hotel. The surveillance footage was compiled and edited from multiple angles and was filmed on March 5, 2016. The incident took place at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles. CNN verified the location based on previously public photos of the hotel’s interior. This is considered the most convincing evidence that Cassie was brutally abused by Diddy.

Diddy walked out of the hotel room with a towel wrapped around his waist, ran down the hallway, grabbed Cassie by the back of the neck and threw her to the floor.
