HUGH Jackman proved he is a real-life hero after saving his 15-year-old son, as well as other swimmers, from a rip tide at Bondi Beach.

The Australian actor was on the beach when he noticed his son, Oscar, and other swimmers were caught in a dangerous surf on Saturday.

Footage emerged that showed the X-Men star saving a man – identified as Peter Adam – caught in the rip and pulling him to safety before going to save his son a few moments later.

It was revealed after that the first man Hugh saved was holding Hugh’s 10-year-old daughter, Ava.

Several other swimmers and surfers were saved after lifeguards on the beach sprung into action with jetskis and surfboards.

The father of 2 was seen asking other beach-goers to help rescue the struggling swimmers.

Speaking to Australia’s 9 News after the incident, Peter said: “He wasn’t rescuing me, I was assisting him to get his daughter up to the sandbar.

“He then grabbed my hand to get us up. He then went to get his son.”

Hugh had returned to Australia the day before after promoting his latest film, Eddie the Eagle.

He also recently upset fans when he revealed he will not be returning to the big screen as Wolverine, and is instead looking forward to seeing another actor play his iconic role.

Hugh said on the Jonathan Ross Show: “I actually do like the feeling of being strong and I’m training way harder than I would if I wasn’t in one of these movies, but it’s painful, it actually hurts.

“People say ‘You get addicted to it.’ I’m not addicted to it. I’ll be quite looking forward to having a few beers, some burgers and hanging out.”
