This holiday season, Hollywood dispersed to a variety of spectacular vacation spots. Ansel Elgort rented a property in the Dominican Republic, while John Legend and Chrissy Teigen posted pictures from Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Turks and Caicos. But Idris Elba’s getaway might just have been the most spectacular. The Hobbs & Shaw actor and his wife, Sabrina, resided in one of the property’s water villas at One&Only Reethi Rah in the Maldives.

Elba’s estate, located on one of the largest private islands in North Malé Atoll, is only accessible via elevated wooden walkways. The one-bedroom residence floats above the water, surrounded by the turquoise hues of the Indian Ocean, and features a spacious layout with a living and dining room as well as a spa-like bathroom. The entire facility was designed with local architecture and decor and Balinese elements in mind.

The interior and exterior of the property are equally impressive. Elba had access to a private infinity pool that blends in with the beautiful scenery and is surrounded by catamaran netting for lounging. A separate veranda with a daybed overlooking the ocean, an outdoor dining area perfect for dinner under the stars, and an outdoor shower make this space the epitome of indoor-outdoor living. The direct access to the lagoon was certainly the icing on the cake for the Cats sensation.

The English actor departed his luxurious accommodations to explore the resort’s surroundings by bicycle, relax on the resort’s white sand beaches, indulge in a romantic private dining experience at Tapasake, and unwind at the trendy Rah Bar. Elba, an ardent football player, also participated in the One&Only Festive Football Tournament, and on New Year’s Eve, he surprised guests with a DJ set!
