On Game of Thrones, Emilia Clarke plays Daenerys Targaryen, a strong as hell mother of dragons whose style choices err on the side of warrior queen (think power shoulders, high necklines and luxe but stiff fabrics). In real life, though, Clarke has way more fun with fashion, as proven by these five outfits we’re keen on copying.
Striped Top + Polka Dot Skirt
While Daenerys sticks to dark, neutral colors, Clarke often opts for prints, especially when they’re mixed. As a general rule of thumb, when it comes to wearing more than one pattern at a time, try to keep one a bit subtler (in this case, the polka dots).
Gray Blazer + Black Jeans + White Mules
Not that there’s anything wrong with dark, neutral colors, of course. Sticking to a palette of black, white and dark gray is a super-easy way to look put together and expensive. FYI, this is what Clarke looks like getting off of a plane (meanwhile we’re rolling through the TSA line in our sweatpants and sneakers).
Fitted Top + A-line Midi Skirt
Welcome to “Flattering Your Figure 101.” A tight top tucked into a high-waist, A-line skirt highlights Clarke’s small middle while giving her room to breathe. The ankle-skimming length is also pretty much universally flattering, while the pointy-toe pumps keep the overall silhouette nice and streamlined.
Colorful Blazer + T-shirt + Jeans
Think jeans and a T-shirt can’t look refined? Think again. On its own, this combo is super casual, but paired with a statement-making jacket and chic mules (that, yes, she’s rewearing from the black and gray look), it’s dressed-up and appropriate for more than just running errands on the weekend.
Duster Jacket + Mom Jeans + Low Heels + Crossbody Bag
Another day, another cool, effortless denim look from Miss Clarke. This time she pairs loose-fitting jeans (belted so as not to look too sloppy) with a breezy duster and low heels that add a bit of polish without making the outfit too stuffy. (And yes, we’re obviously crushing hard on that gorgeous red crossbody.)
