1957 Chevy Bel Air

In 1957, a two-page Chevrolet magazine ad proclaimed that ‘Chevy puts the purr in performance’. This Bel Air Convertible, with the optional 245 hp, 283 cid small block V8 equipped with two 4-barrel carburetors, would certainly deliver on the promise made in the ad.

Over the years these popular cars have become one of the most desirable and collectable post-war cars of all and an icon for a generation.

Chevrolet produced 47,000 Bel Air convertibles in the 1957 model year, but very few would have been as lavishly equipped with dealer and factory options and accessories as this example. Awarded highest honors by the Antique Automobile Club of America, this car was originally built in GM’s Los Angeles, California, assembly plant.
